Anyone who follows my reading lists will probably see pretty quickly that I tend to read in series. As I do most of my reading through Audible many of the authors are pretty well established – though I have nothing but admiration for “Indie” authors few of them are available through audio books. I have been talking to a few hoping they will change that but so far I am not having much luck.
Anyway – back to the series. Since I do follow the same genre a lot of the time occasionally I get some fairly great recommendations through the “books we recommend” section. I had been given a bookmark of swag a couple of years ago with Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series. At the time I must have been pretty busy following other authors and books that I was being given to review because I just picked up the series. I prefer to find an author that creates beautiful communities that build upon each other. Susan Mallery definitely has a gift for that in Fool’s Gold. I am starting pretty late into the series with this one since the first Fool’s Gold novel “Chasing Perfect” was published in May 2010 and according to the author’s website there will be 23 stories out around this fictional world by the end of 2015.
The series starts out with “Chasing Perfect” the love story of Charity and Josh. It always amazes me how many interesting characters an author can fit into a small community and not trip over themselves. Since the beginning of June I have delved into this world and am eager to see the next novel, “Kiss Me” appear in my library – preordered on June 30th. Romance in Fool’s Gold is never straight forward and easy – much like real life. It is fascinating to see characters fighting their attractions and discovering love right under their noses. One of these days I hope Ms Mallery will give us a hint into the connections that give Mayor Marsha the ability to persuade people around the world to help her and this wonderful community.
I hope you’ll join me on the Fool’s Gold journey with “Kiss Me” coming out in a couple of weeks. Pick up the first in the series and settle into a small town world where everyone knows everyone else’s business but support each other with every twist in the road. I hope you enjoy it this series as much as I have.
