Option 1 – Book spotlight

  • You can choose one of your books.
  • I’d suggest either your latest or the start of a series.
  • With this include a cover photo, ISBN, release date
  • Please include a excerpt and book description.
  • Amazon and Goodreads links

Option 2 – Character interview

  • As an author interview one of your characters
  • If this is a series – what has gone on with your main characters/couple/town since the last book
  • How long has it been, chronologically, since your last novel ended?
  • Children gained, jobs changed, etc
  • What do you want from life?
  • If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
  • What three things would you take to a Desert Island?
  • What, in the outside world, is preventing you from getting it?
  • What, in yourself, is preventing you from getting it?
  • What must happen before you overcome this?
  • In your relationship with others, how are you different with family than you are with friends? Why?
  • How do you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period?
  • What parts of loving come easy for you? Hard?
  • How do you decide if you can trust someone? Experience with others? with this person? First impressions? Intuition? Do you test the person somehow? Or are you just generally disposed to trust or not to trust?
  • When you walk into a room, what do you notice first? Second?
  • When you walk into a room, what do you expect people to notice about you?
  • Describe yourself to me.
  • Is one sense more highly developed than another? (Are you more visual, or audial, etc, or do you rely on the famous sixth sense?)
  • Did you turn out the way you expected? The way your parents predicted?
  • What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?
  • What’s the one thing you have always wanted to do but didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t? What would happen if you did do it?
  • What do you consider are your strengths?
  • What do you consider are your weaknesses?
  • What is one physical attribute you are proud of?
  • What one physical attribute would you change?
  • What do you consider your special talent?
  • What do you wish your special talent was?
  • What are you most proud of about your life?
  • Is there anything you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done? What would happen if you did it?
  • What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done? Why?
  • Describe your ideal mate.
  • What are you most afraid of?
  • What’s the most important thing in your life? What do you value most?
  • How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?
  • If you could be an animal, what would it be?

Option 3 – Author interview

  • Tell us about yourself
  • What genre do you write? What draws you to that genre?
  • What have you written? Do you write in series or single/one offs?
  • What makes your writing/books special
  • What is your favorite book/author and why (links)
  • Which writers inspire you? What about them or their books?
  • Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special? Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?
  • When you create characters are you picturing or describing someone in your life/actor?
  • What are you working on at the moment? What’s it about?
  • How much research do you do?
  • Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers? Why did you do decide to collaborate and did that affect your sales?
  • When did you decide to become a writer?
  • Why do you write? What made you decide to sit down and actually start something? Do you write full-time or part-time?  Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured? Do you write every day, 5 days a week or as and when? Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day Do you prefer to write on a typewriter, computer, dictate or longhand?
  • Where do the your ideas come from?
  • Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?
  • How do you think you’ve grown as an author?
  • What is the hardest thing about writing? What was the hardest thing about writing your latest book? What is the easiest thing about writing?
  • How long on average does it take you to write a book?
  • If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it? What are your thoughts on writing a book series?
  • Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors.
  • For your own reading, do you prefer audiobooks, ebooks or traditional paper/hard back books? What book/s are you reading at present?
  • Do you proofread/edit all your own books or do you get someone to do that for you?
  • Do you have multiple books going at the same time? If so how do you keep them straight? Who edited your book and how did you select him/her?
  • Tell us about the cover/s and how it/they came about. Who designed your book cover/s? Do you think that the cover plays an important part in the buying process?
  • How are you publishing this book and why? (*e.g. Indie, traditional or both)
  • This is primarily an Audible book review blog – are you available on audio book format? If not have you considered it/will you?
  • What would you say are the main advantages and disadvantages of self-publishing against being published or the other way around?
  • What recommendations would you give to an author starting out?
  • What do you do to get book reviews? How successful has your quest for reviews been so far? Do you have a strategy for finding reviewers? Do you have any suggestions for reviewers in getting connected with authors/publishers? What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?
