Loving Josie, A Torey Hope Novel

This is a stand-alone novel and does not need to be read in order.

Josie Decker has spent her whole life as an unloved and unwanted bother. Like a wild horse captured and bridled, Josie’s spirit is broken. She devises a plan to start her life anew; silently biding her time, she waits for the perfect moment. When that moment arises, Josie takes the opportunity and runs freely into an uncertain future in Torey Hope.

Kyle Martin is a tattooed, pierced, bad boy with a heart of gold. Marching to the beat of his own drummer, Kyle meets his perfect match early on in life. Devastating circumstances beyond his control plunge Kyle into dark despair and suffocating blackness. In an effort to escape the blackness, Kyle accepts an offer from an old friend and moves to Torey Hope.

Josie and Kyle hit it off as close friends and kindred spirits right away. Both are harboring secrets and sadness, but the connection between them is bringing light back to their smiles, their hearts, their lives. Kyle and Josie cling to each other as they battle guilt and crushed spirits. Through it all, with a lot of help from an unexpected accomplice, Kyle and Josie come to view each other in a new light.

When the past catches up to them and causes their lives to come crashing down, will Kyle and Josie get the chance to see where their future is headed? Or will they be forced to admit they waited too long to embrace what was right in front of them the whole time?

A heart-wrenching and heart-warming love story of cherishing the past while embracing the future.

For ages 18+ due to adult language and situations.

Adventurous Me by Deanndra Hall

“Boring? Tiresome? Predictable? We’ll see about that.”

Trish’s husband of almost 30 years announces that he’s leaving her because she’s “boring,” so she does what any sensible person would do: She sets out to find an adventure. When her attempt to drink her heartbreak literally drops her onto a handsome gentleman who invites her to have an adventure, Trish can’t help but say yes.

She embarks on that adventure. In the process, her path keeps crossing that of another – Clint Winstead, a Dominant at the club, Bliss, and the one person in the place who seems to despise her. And that’s fine with Trish. After all, there are plenty of other Doms there who want to play. At least that’s what she tells herself.

But when an annual event at the club throws Trish and Clint together for two weeks, both of them are horrified, not by the pairing, but by the feelings they’re trying hard to deny. As the two weeks pass, it’s harder and harder to deny what they know is true – that is, until one incident almost changes both of their lives irreparably. And when Trish realizes that continuing on with her commitment could cost her the ultimate – her life – she knows that it has to end.

Even though Trish is the queen of second chances, a second chance might just come at a price too high to pay this time. A little adventure is a good thing, but perhaps she’s gotten far more adventure than she can handle.

Series review: Bluegrass series by Kathleen Brooks

One of the things I intend to do is include author reviews on my blog. When I find an author that I love I tend to follow them for a long time. The first author I’m doing this with is Kathleen Brooks. A local Kentucky author, which I have had the pleasure of meeting, Kathleen’s… Continue reading Series review: Bluegrass series by Kathleen Brooks

Book Spotlight: Fashioned for Power by Kathleen Brooks

As she headed back to her room, she looked back at the flowers. A card stuck out the side. She wondered if Finn had written something sweet or something naughty to her. Allegra grinned with anticipation as she reached for the red envelope and pulled out the white card. She turned it over. There was only one word written on it . . . Whore.

Allegra felt her knees give out as she collapsed on the floor. He was here. Harry was here. Clutching the phone, she struggled to enter her passcode. Her fingers shook and she kept hitting the wrong buttons. With every wrong number, she felt her vision blur. She struggled to breathe. Finally she entered the right numbers and called the only person who knew the truth.

“Damien, he’s here. He’s in New York.”

———————————

Damn Harry. He was ruining friendships and relationships. It took her months just to trust Finn enough to tell him what was going on, and now she had the feeling that she got the brush-off tonight. She would have to talk to him tomorrow. Maybe Harry threatened him. Finn loved her; she knew he did. Threatening her was the only reason that Finn would back away from her. This relationship meant too much for her to sit back and do nothing as it fell apart.

“Here, honey, have a piece of pie. It’ll put a smile on that beautiful face,” her mother said as a slice of pumpkin pie was placed in front of her.

“Thank you, Mom,” Allegra smiled. She felt better. She wasn’t going to sit back and watch life happen to her. No, she was going to take a page out of her sisters’ book and go after what she wanted.

“You know what else will put a smile on your face . . .?”

“Shirley!” the women all groaned as Nate and Reid laughed. The bodyguard could only cringe.
