Becoming Charity (The Society Series book 1) by Lillian Nightshade

Hot, but extremely controversial.   My feelings are conflicted on this novel – it is well written, scenes and characters that could actually become a visual in your mind.  You do have to keep in mind that even though it is set in what appears to be modern day with events, lectures, mentors, teaching opportunities, etc the reader has to let go of reality once more.  BDSM clubs have the constant rhetoric of SSC – Safe, Sane and Consensual or at very least, and more realistic, RACK – Risk Aware Consensual Kink. The Society that is the setting of this series throws that idea out of the window.  Other than making sure partners are disease free –safety and consensual activities is non-existent.

As a hot novel – read this book, this series, this author! Thank heavens the modern day BDSM community – while admittedly many would find this hot – is much more safety and consensual aware. If you are a fan of Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy series pick this up – another author to consider if you haven’t discovered her as well. I will definitely be reading more from this author and look forward to many more years of entertainment.

Buy stock in Duracell and then pick up the first in this series. Settle down for a long night of reading and curl up in your favorite reading place and your beverage of choice. I picked up some peppermint tea and loved every moment. This will be the first of many nights curled up with this author.
