If you’re just now discovering Dani Pettrey take a deep breath and start back with book 1. Dani Pettrey’s inspirational suspense romances are in a league with few others, Dee Henderson to name a favorite of mine. Every main character in this series is intertwined in the previous books – like me you will fall in love with this family and be rooting for their successes, tense with their suspenseful points, and pray with them as they lean ever closer to God and their family. The list of the series in order is at the bottom of this review – start there and has fun!
Kirra Jacobs and Reef McKenna grew up together in the same small town but were always at odds – Kirra the good girl and Reef the troublemaker. Today, years later, they are both working search and rescue for the Iditarod race, when Kirra’s uncle Frank goes missing and her cousin kidneapped. Reef pairs up to help this strong, capable, woman find and help the only part of her family that has ever had her back.
I love that Dani Pettrey isn’t afraid to have characters that have issues with their trust in God. I can’t help but hope that in the not too distant future the author will return to this family and we will see updates on their lives and families. The McKenna family is made of incredibly strong, capable, self-sufficient men and women of faith. Unlike some inspirational romances, they do have their struggles, major issues in their past they have to overcome and faith in God does not instantly wipe any issues or fears away.
