Drive Me Crazy (A Shaken Dirty novel) by Tracy Wolff
Quinn and Elise in Drive Me Crazy truly are quite the pair to be reckoned with. Quinn is a rock star/former concert pianist who is the prankster that showed Elise the possibilities of love as a teenager. Elise a world renowned concert pianist who built up walls of self protection after Quinn walked away without a word the night he made love to her as a child is bound and determined to protect her heart from the man she fell for years before but he was always able to get through her defenses.
As a reader I love this couple – the deliciousness of well thought out and well executed pranks is fun to watch though rarely to be on the receiving end. The interactions with Quinn’s band mates and the discovery by Elise that she can be an integral part of the group is fascinating. The rediscovery of faith in herself that we see as Elise discovers that her talents in music do not lie solely in playing the piano – thank God since her hand was badly mangled in the car accident – is beautiful.
Quinn has loved this girl since his early teens and has a bit of the overprotective/dominant streak regarding his friends but especially the woman that earned his heart years before. Learning that he left her in a misguided attempt to protect her sweetens the deal. I love the fact that Quinn and Elise prank each other constantly – it is so sweet to see as that brings the life and joy back into Elise after the loss of her friend and her career.
This is a well-written novel with characters you will come to love and laugh out loud with at their antics. Few books truly please me as a reader with the ending but I happened to really like this one. I discovered at the end of this novel that this is a series and it is definitely one I will look up. I will enjoy seeing the band mates and their paths to love.
