Chosen for Power – Women of Power series, book 1 by Kathleen Brooks
I opened up the newest audible book for one of my favorite authors this week. Kathleen Brooks’ newest series “Women of Power” was first released in April of last year. Though I tend to try to wait for the Audible version – any authors out there I’d sure appreciate quick releases of the Audible format – I couldn’t help buying the Kindle format of each of the novels as they came out. The Audible format, my preferred method of reading, is pre-order ready for this author.
One of my favorite things about the female protagonists in Kathleen Brooks’ novels is that they are not “wilting flowers”. Each of the lead females in Kathleen’s romance novels are fairly confident women. Elle, CEO of Simpson Global, is no exception to this. The novels of this author are always well written and a 1-click or preorder in my library. Though I am definitely more of a fan of the author’s Bluegrass Series – this new series is definitely growing on me. Amy McFadden – the narrator of this series in the process of being released on Audible – does a wonderful job of bringing to life the Simpson sisters and their tales. In fact, an interesting fact on Audible you can search by narrator, as well as author or title. When searching by narrator you may find a new author or series, in this case I actually found a series in my wish list by another favorite author Sherryl Woods – I am sure I will continue to enjoy Amy’s narration of many novels in the future.
After following Kathleen’s novels for a couple of years now, as a reader, I love the depth of her characters, the community of friends and world surrounding her romances. From time to time I wish I could move into the world of her novels – in spite of the powerful romances I have to say I wouldn’t really want to be one of her characters. Yes, they have incredible, beautiful love stories. On the other hand – someone is always trying to kill or harm them.
Publisher’s Summary
Somebody is out to destroy Elle Simpson and everything she’s worked hard to build. As the CEO of a corporate conglomerate, Elle is used to fighting off challengers. However this new threat comes at a time when she finally lets her guard down to meet Prince Charming. And it’s unlike anything she’s been up against before.
Drake Charles’ work on mobile technology has made him a wealthy, powerful man. But he quickly sheds the fame and publicity for a more private life, which earns him the label of a man of mystery. Drake adds to that mystery every year when he hosts a masquerade ball for charity. It’s also his best chance to find the one thing he really wants: true love.
Having met behind masks of anonymity, Elle and Drake enjoy a whirlwind night of romance that leaves them both wanting more. But Elle must question everything and everyone as she battles to save her life and career. Can Elle trust Drake to help get her life back, or will she lose everything?
